"Avance!"

August 29, 1896

The church bells in Mandaluyong rang at nine P.M.in the evening. After, The Supremo called out. "Avance!". The command to avance was the first battle cry of the Katipunan. The Katipuneros surrounded the Town Hall and entered the building to seize the guns of the guardia civil The rebels asked if they would surrender or not. The guard replied "Malamig!" and did the secret Katipunan signal. They embraced each other. The guards were so moved by the scene that the yielded their guns.

As soon as the Supremo entered the building he searched for a man named Buenaventura Domingo, who was supposedly keeping the parish priest under surveillance. To the Supremo's surprise, Domingo said that the man escaped. the Supremo aimed his revolver at Domingo and cried "Masamang kapatid! Taksil na Anak ng Bayan!".

In Pasig, a thousand Katipuneros fought the guardia civil and drove the parish curate up the tower, while in Pandacan, the other Katipuneros sacked the church as the padre hurried to escape, frantically waving a white handkerchief, which caught the attention of some nearby guards whe sent him a rescue team. at 11:00 P.M., the Supremo marched towards San Juan del Monte, where they hoped to seize the powder magazine. They could rest easy until their big plan; the invasion of Manila. But their well-laid plan turned out to be a disaster. But why? The plan was that the attack would hapen when the lights dimmed in the Supremo's hmone, but It turned out that the Supremo was so tired that he decided to rest for a while. He woke up at 4:00 A.M. and by that time, it was to late to send a signal to the other Katipuneros to move forward with their plan. After that, the Katipunan troops were lead by Sancho Valenzuela, a man devoid military knowledge. Valenzuela gave orders by shouting out of a window in a wooden house, and because of that, 80 Katipuneros died in the attack, and the team closest to them could not help, becaouse their only guns were with their leader, Ricardo Valenzuela. Even if they had the guns, their gunshots would be like mice squeaking beside the Spaniard's mountain cannon durin the San Juan battle. After that, Pio Valenzuela wrote to the Madrid troopse to send aid to the philippines, and in the letter, he mentioned that his unit robbed a chinese store of all their food. Nearby, minor skirmishes were driving the Spaniards crazy in the countryside, and one of the men in the troops was cought stealing chickens from his neighbors. The Supremo wrote to his leader, Francisco, to turn in the man, but all his letters were ignored.

Sadly, the Supremo had to leave the countryside, for he had a much bigger plan for his army...
